World Cancer Day celebrated at BFCMT
4th February is celebrated throughout the world as the World Cancer Day to spread awareness about this deadly disease. Baba Farid College of Management and Technology (BFCMT) under the leadership of honourable Director Principal Dr. Manish Bansal celebrated the World Cancer Day today with the students and the staff members.
This initiative was taken to make the students and staff members aware about the causes of Cancer and the ways in which we can contribute towards the society in reducing the same. Various causes of cancer such as consumption of Tobacco, Smoke Emissions, Intake of impure water, Usage of Insecticides and Pesticides and the exposure to Radiations were discussed.
Baba Farid Group of Institutions has dedicated the Year 2012 to the concept of Live Green. Keeping in alignment with the theme, the role of the pollution caused by Information Technology through the emission of harmful Carbon Dioxide related gases was discussed in depth. How these emissions ultimately become the cause of the deadly disease “Cancer” was explained to the students.
In the daily routine, our day starts with electricity and it ends up with the use of Electronic Gadgets. The students were explained that how they can contribute towards the noble cause of eradicating Cancer from our Society by careful usage of Electronic Gadgets in the daily life.
With an aim to go beyond academics, these extra activities are arranged to develop the insights of the students – attaining extra knowledge and their theoretical applications thereof. We are extremely grateful to our Honourable Managing Director S. Gurmeet Singh Dhaliwal for providing these opportunities to our students.
