Industry Visit
Industry- Institute interaction is an important aspect of our curriculum. Department of Training & Placement arranges students' visits to different corporate giants. These activities give students of Baba Farid Group of Institutions an essential insight for application of their theoretical knowledge to the practical world. It, thus, reinforces their class-room learning. The students get a first hand understanding of Industrial processes. They can apply their Management & Engineering tools to real life situations. This also helps in multi-dimensional development of our students, giving them an edge over others in terms of Industrial exposure.
The college has conducted industrial visits in reputed companies across the state. To mention a few National Fertilizers Limited, Vardhman Polytex Limited, Hindustan Machine Tools Limited, Cremica, Swaraj, Avon Cycles, Dainik Bhaskar, Setia Paper Mills, National Thermal Plant Corporation, Bathinda Chemicals Limited, Trident Group, etc.
INDUSTRIAL VISITS SESSION 2011 - 2012
AARTI INTERNATIONAL LTD
An Industrial trip of MBA 4th Semester students was organized by the Training and Placement Department of Baba Farid Group of Institutions on 11th January, 2012 at Aarti International Ltd. The main motive of this trip was to give practical knowledge to the students. The students accompanied by their teachers reached the industry at 12:30pm and there they met Mr. Sulesh. He gave a brief history to the students about the industry and then the students were taken to the plant by technical experts wherein they were shown how simple cotton is purified through different machines and pipelines. These machines were mainly imported from Germany and Switzerland. Less manpower was there because most of the work was done through the machines. Students took great interest in it and they also asked various questions to the technical experts. All in all, the entire trip was very beneficial as the students got to know the practical aspects of the production process.

INDUSTRIAL VIST TO BENTEX INDUSTRIALS LTD
With an aim to go beyond academics, the Training and Placement Department of Baba Farid Group of Institutions conducted an industrial visit for the students of MBA second semester and PGDBI of Baba Farid College of Management and Technology at Bentex Industrials Private Limited, Mandi Gobindgarh on 08th September 2011 with an objective to develop an insight of the students about the practical aspects of the processes in the manufacturing industry. Bentex Industrials, established in 1996 is a manufacturer and exporter of complete steel rolling mill plant and machinery. General Manager Bentex Industrials, Mr. Rajan gave an overview to the students about the industry and thereafter the students were sent in batches accompanied by the technical expert to have an exposure of the actual working conditions and processes run inside the plant. Every machine is first designed in CAD system and then sent to manufacturing. If required, machines are also simulated in computer to ensure desired performance and capacity. The students were acquainted with the different types of machines and the technologies used for the production of the machinery. The students took keen interest in the technical session and asked questions to clear off their doubts. Overall, this industrial visit was very fruitful as it increased the practical awareness about the manufacturing sector. We express our thanks to Dr. Manish Bansal, Director Principal BFCMT and the Training and Placement Department for conducting the knowledge enhancing industrial visit for the students.


INDUSTRIAL VISIT TO DCM ENGINEERING
Baba Farid Group of Institutions has always laid emphasis on providing industrial exposure to its students and keeping them abreast with latest trends in industry. With an aim to go beyond academics, these visits are arranged to develop the insights of the students – attaining practical knowledge and their theoretical applications thereof. Keeping up with this aim, BFGI organized an industrial visit for MBA students to DCM Engineering Ltd., Ropar.
Mr. Vikas Puri, Senior HR, DCM Engg Ltd accorded a warm welcome to the students; he was overwhelmed to see the enthusiasm of the students. Mr. Puri appreciated the effort of the institute to arrange such visits in order to enhance the knowledge of students. He accompanied the students and provided exposure to the actual working conditions, industry practices and acquainted students with interesting facts and breath-taking technologies.
DCM has been an industrial front runner in the Indian sub continent. It is one of the leading foundries in India, in the segment of Automotive Castings with a capacity of 72,000 MTPA. The foundry specializes in the manufacture of Cylinder Heads, Cylinder Blocks and Housings and is supplying castings across all segments in automotive market: car, multi-utility vehicle, tractor, light commercial vehicle, heavy commercial vehicle and earth moving equipments. DCM is also exporting consistently for last 10 years. Its association with international customers includes GM-Daewoo, Korea; General Motors, USA; Perodua Perkins Motors(Subsidiary of Daihatsu Motor Co., Japan), Malaysia; and Hepworth Heating, UK.

Moreover, it gives exposure from academic point of view. We are extremely grateful to DCM Engg. for providing this opportunity to our students”.
INDUSTRIAL VISIT TO AARTI INTERNATIONAL LTD
Industrial visit is considered has always been one of the most effective methods of teaching as it lets students to know things practically, learn the working methods and employment practices through direct interaction and the importance of such visits has always been understood by BFGI in providing the exposure to the students. Continuing its endeavor Department of Training & Placement organized industrial visit to Aarti international Ltd, Ludhiana for students of MBA on 30th August, 2011.
Aarti International has an installed capacity of 1,73,000 spindles including 57,000 spindles of compact yarn. This unit with its State of Art technology has emerged as a global player in the spinning industry. While the group has expanded manifold in its steel and yarn business, it has never ignored its duties towards the nation. The group has been awarded with “Spirituality at Work place Award” being run by an International Spirituality at Work Place Society USA.
The visit was a part of the exposure requirement of the academic curriculum and fulfilling this requirement was Mr. S. K. Mahajan, President, Aarti International Ltd who accompanied the students and threw spotlight on the working of the company & gave his valuable inputs. He also appreciated the efforts made by the institute in order to transform the students from aspiring youth to the corporate heroes by providing them right atmosphere, platform & right disclosure to the corporate norms & culture. Students, on the other hand, were in high spirits during the visit and were highly elated to see the actual working conditions of the company.
INDUSTRIAL VISIT TO LUDHIANA STOCK EXCHANGE
The Training and Placement Department of Baba Farid Group of Institutions conducted an industrial visit for the third semester MBA students of Baba Farid College of Management and Technology at Ludhiana Stock Exchange on 08th September 2011. The event was participated by 65 students accompanied by 2 faculty members. The Ludhiana Stock Exchange Limited was established in 1981, by Sh. S.P. Oswal of Vardhman Group and Sh. B.M. Lal Munjal of Hero Group, leading industrial luminaries, to fulfill a vital need of having a Stock Exchange in the region of Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir and Union Territory of Chandigarh. Since its inception, the Stock Exchange has grown phenomenally. The Stock Exchange has played an important role in channelising savings into capital for the various industrial and commercial units of the State of Punjab and other parts of the country. Ludhiana Stock Exchange is one of the leading Regional Stock Exchange and has been in the forefront of other Stock Exchange in every spheres. On reaching the LSE, the students were welcomed by Mr. Sadhu Ram who gave a presentation on the capital market. The training module covered the introduction and history of the stock market in India, history and significance of stock exchanges, functions of stock exchanges, capital market in India, instruments of capital market, etc. He also threw light on the earlier trading systems such as the Badla System and showed us the physical certificates of the scrips which were issued to the investors before the existence of the Demat facility. The students were also shown the live trading portal of LSE. The second session was taken by Mrs. Pooja Ankoli who handled the questions of the students on stock market and cleared all their doubts in a very simple manner by giving real life illustrations. She also cleared the concept of derivatives very effectively. It was an informative, interesting and a successful visit. The students had a good overview of the role of stock exchange.
